      charged plates. the iron ions will be attracted to the negative metal plate.

      one can make the solution fairly basic ~ pH 9 and the iron will precipitate as Fe(OH)2 or Fe(OH)3. With use of a co-flocculant like Al(OH)3…much of the transition metal can be removed in this manner. The water can then be readjusted to pH ~ 7 after removal of the precipitate
